Xen and CentOS#

Console on Serial Port#

Things to note:

  • BIOS console redirection: the port you select will be redirected to another port (i.e. if you set console on redirection to use COM1, you will need to tell all the software to use COM2...)
  • GRUB needs to be told to use the serial port
  • Xen needs to be told to use the serial port
  • Linux needs to be told to use the serial port
  • init needs to be told to start "agetty" and put a console on the serial port
  • disable all "pretty boot" crap, to be nice to any vt100s...
